La Fromagerie

Sarah and Eric first met founder Patricia Michelson in 1997 in Islington and have been loyal customers of her beloved La Fromagerie ever since.

Patricia’s passion for cheese apparently began up a mountain whilst she was skiing in Meribel. She returned to London with a wheel of Beaufort under her arm which she sold from her garden shed before graduating to a stall in Camden market a year later. La Fromagerie now as 3 locations in central London – all with their signature cheeseroom.

Eric was honoured to have his mozzarella and foie gras starter included in her first book ‘The Cheese Room’.

Baechler, Churned Butter

Our very popular table butter is from Normandy, created from matured cream and churned in the old-fashioned way. Only 10% of butter production in France is done using a churn and the Baechler churn is the same one purchased by Charles Baechler in 1951. His grandson Xavier says there are no plan to replace it. The milk used was fermented for 24 hours and finished with salt crystals from Noirmoutier, a tidal island off the Atlantic coast of France.

Thames Ditton Honey

Less than a mile away, Stevie and his daughter Georgie supply us with honey on the comb from their Buckfast honey bees – a strain of bee known for being chilled and friendly – just like our Stevie. Their honey is raw, unfiltered and unpasteurised, literally as the bees created it.

Huntsham Farm, Herefordshire

Richard Vaughan and his wife Rosamund have provided us with their excellent customer service and Middle White Pigs almost since our beginnings. Situated in the beautiful Wye Valley, their farm has been in the Vaughan family for nearly 400 years, and they take great pride and care in producing meat of the highest quality from traditional breeds. These magnificent beasts are given individual attention by a small, devoted team, reared and fattened slowly to produce meat of superlative quality, taste and texture.

Nurtured in Norfolk
Micro herbs, Edible flowers

Co-founders Allan and Sue started growing micro cress back in 2009. As ex chefs their simple ethos is that ‘the quality and consistency of the product must be of an exacting standard that they would have expected and been happy to use themselves.’ An ethos that we appreciate.

Wiltshire Truffles

“The planet’s top truffle dealer.” The Observer Food Monthly (November 2021)

Zak provides us with outstandingly fresh truffles. Wiltshire Truffles is a family business started in 2010. They hunt for wild truffles locally and work closely with fellow truffle hunters in eight other countries to source beautiful truffles directly from the woods.

Flying Fish, Cornwall

Flying Fish will only buy from day boats run by responsible fishermen & deliver fresh to us every night. Their personal service and excellent knowledge make them a pleasure to work with. Eric and Sarah enjoyed an impromptu visit on one family trip to Cornwall.

Balfour Winery, Kent

For the past decade, Balfour Winery in Staplehurst, Kent has heavily featured on our wine list. Co-founders Richard and Leslie Balfour-Lynn planted their first vineyards in 2002, and five years later, Balfour Brut Rosé was introduced. It went on to become the first English wine to ever win a gold medal and the Trophy at the International Wine Challenge.

In late 2025 we will be very excited to introduce our own label white wine produced for us by Balfour Winery.

Severn and Wye Smokery

Situated on the edge of the Royal Forest of Dean, their production techniques and smoking processes are still very traditional. The grading, filleting, curing and cutting are still mostly done by hand. They chip all their own oak wood for smoking which gives the products a unique distinctive taste.

Vic, Thames Ditton Allotments

From time to time, our lovely Vic will pop in with beautiful produce from his allotment. Over the past 8 years, he has brought us artichokes, courgettes, marrows, celeriac and tomatoes.

Belazu (formerly the Fresh Olive Company)

Eric first met George, founder of the company, when they worked together as teenagers in Paris. George went on to create the Fresh Olive Company with his best friend Adam when they returned with buckets of quality olives from Provence. The demand was high in the UK with no shortage of chefs and delis wanting to buy from their little van. Belazu now offers a beautiful range of olives and other authentic ingredients to both professional chefs and home cooks.

Smith and Brock, Independent wholesalers of fresh fruit and veg, dried and fine foods

Brothers Joe and Nick founded Smith and Brock in 2016 with the desire ‘to have the best people supplying the best product with the best service, to those who value these attributes in a supplier.’ We trust them to deliver the highest quality produce time and time again.

Chanteroy

When there is a need for an authentic French product, we call Christophe at Chanteroy. Eric has known Christophe since time began and the company has since grown to be a very fine French retailer in London.
